Where your dictation goes

Check the claims yourself. Wispr Flow's own privacy documentation lists its cloud subprocessors, and the screenshot behaviour was widely discussed by its own users on r/macapps in February 2026. For TAWK, the test is simpler: turn wifi off and dictate.

The AI cleanup

Wispr Flow rewrites your speech: filler words removed, tone smoothed, sentences tidied by a model. TAWK does not do this, on purpose. It types what you said, punctuated. For a lot of people that is the feature: your words stay yours, and nothing you did not say ends up under your name. If you love the rewriting, stay with Wispr Flow. No hard feelings.

iPhone and Windows

TAWK is built only for macOS. One platform, done properly. If you dictate on your phone daily, that matters more than anything on this page.

Does TAWK clean up my speech like Wispr Flow does?

No, and that is deliberate. TAWK types what you said, punctuated, in your own words. If you want your words smoothed by a model in the cloud, keep Wispr Flow. If you want them to stay yours and stay on your Mac, that is TAWK.

Is TAWK really offline?

Yes. The model ships inside the app. Turn wifi off and dictate: it works the same. The one thing it ever asks the internet is whether a newer version exists, once a day, with nothing about you attached.

Can I try TAWK before cancelling Wispr Flow?
